You’ll have me by your side while we work on whatever is making walks difficult. Whether that’s pulling, reactivity, recall, over-excitement, low confidence, fixation on scents, stopping and staring, or struggling around dogs, people, wildlife or traffic.
Walkside Coaching brings together the methods behind Stress Free Walks, Calm First, Scentventure and the Four Compass Points. Instead of tackling each behaviour separately, I’ll decode what’s driving it and tailor the walk and your skills accordingly.
My goal is to make you the Independent Expert on your dog, so that the two of you can walk together confidently, without my help.
It all started 6 weeks ago, when I asked another dog trainer to come out on my walks.
(Justine is one of my amazing Scentventure Guide trainers)
Once a week, she joins Franco and I on our walk, to spot the things that I’m ‘too close’ to see.
It has been… mindblowing.
I learned an important lesson:
No matter how long you’ve been around dogs, an extra pair of eyes is invaluable, to help you turn a simple dog walk into the most powerful training session, ever!
It made me realise that everyone needs a dog trainer to come out on their walks for a while... even dog trainers!
That's why I created Walkside Coaching.
“I’ve said to my partner loads of times, ‘Never mind classes and all the rest of it, I just wish Katie could just come on a walk and watch Alfie from leaving the house to coming back home and help me translate all the stuff into the real world.’ Because it doesn’t matter how much you understand things in principle, it doesn’t matter how good the training is, most of the success is in someone’s ability to actually do the stuff in practice.

I’ll put a plan together for our first session so that we can make the most useful start.
Depending on your dog’s needs, I may recommend beginning at Dogwood where we can build foundations without pressure. In most cases, we will start immediately on your local routes.
I’ll observe your dog, decode what is driving the problems on your walks and identify what needs to change first. Then we’ll move straight into practical training together.
After our session, I'll review everything we've covered and put together your personalised walking plan, including exactly what to practise before we meet again.
Each time we meet, I’ll assess how things are going, make any necessary adjustments and show you the next steps.
At the end of your four-week block, you can finish, continue at the same frequency, or step down to fewer sessions each week.
Choose your package based on:
Your budget
How much support you need
How confident you feel practicing between sessions
How quickly you want to make progress
Weekly sessions are best if you are happy to practise independently. Twice weekly suits you if you need more frequent coaching, want to build confidence faster or have a shorter deadline.
Three or five times weekly packages are designed for situations where:
Your confidence is very low
You do not yet feel able to manage walks independently
You need much closer support over a concentrated four-week period.
In most cases, one 3/5 times weekly intensive block should be enough before stepping down to one or two sessions per week.
4 × 1-hour sessions £260
You can practise independently between sessions.
Confident.
You do not have a fixed deadline.
Continue weekly or finish when ready.
8 × 1-hour sessions £480
You need more frequent coaching or want faster progress.
Some confidence, but you need regular help.
You need more accountability.
Continue twice weekly or step down to weekly.
12 × 1-hour sessions £684
Your confidence is low and you need close, repeated support.
Your confidence has taken a big knock lately.
Walks feel overwhelming or you need to establish a new routine.
Usually step down to once or twice weekly after one block.
20 × 1-hour sessions £1,100
You do not yet feel able to manage walks independently.
Little or no confidence.
Your current walks feel unmanageable or urgent change is needed.
Usually step down to once or twice weekly after one block.

Prices apply to the first intake of clients only. Join as a founding client and your rate will be frozen for three months.
I have capacity to deliver just six Walkside Coaching sessions each week. Depending on the support each dog needs, I’ll be able to accept only 2-6 clients as founders.
After that, the price will increase for new clients.
There is no contract, no minimum term. Book as many rolling 4-week blocks as you need, and there’s no obligation to continue after your first 4 weeks.

Due to limited capacity, I can only travel to the Dogwood or Darlington areas initially.
If you’re out of my area, you’re welcome to come to me and I’ll take you on my favourite tried-and-tested local walks! Or I can match you with another approved local Trainer.
